Structured Training For The Individual

When clients have previously been competent drivers, completion of the course is structured to assist the recovery of those skills in a single day. This course is not specifically designed to teach someone to drive from scratch in a day as this is rarely possible. Clients frequently make rapid progress with their practical driving skills but the course is always delivered at the clients own pace.

For clients who have never really excelled as drivers, the course is designed to help them overcome any 'block' and create significant improvement in a short time. Nervous learners should find their confidence develop significantly and continue to take lessons from an approved instructor near their home.

Priority is given to any specific issue a client may wish to deal with and if no specific issues are expressed, a structured syllabus is followed. Either way, the client dictates what is worked upon to achieve optimum results.

We Prioritise Training On

1. Specific issues the client wishes to work upon

2. Post accident training

3. A structured syllabus

The Hypnotherapy Element

Any emotional blocks to driving are addressed through information gathering the delivery of a hypnotherapy session lasting up to two hours. This process includes taking health and background information from the client and counselling about any incidents or accidents that may have contributed to the problem.

This part of the procedure is carried out at the clients home where they also learn a self-hypnosis technique. Using self-hypnosis at home helps clients consolidate the gains made on the course and is very relaxing.

Hypnotherapy is used primarily to help clients successfully overcome internal conflict. I aim to achieve this with my service through the delivery of hypnotherapy treatments specifically designed to overcome driving problems.

Hypnotherapy can successfully be used to treat driving fears, anxiety, nervousness, panic, anger and phobias. Also, clients suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can be helped using techniques developed by Nervous Driver.

The Technical Driver Training Element

If a client has any specific issues they experience difficulty with such as motorway driving or overtaking, these issues will be worked upon as a priority.

For clients requiring post accident training, a review of the incident is carried out and alternative driving solutions examined which may have prevented, or reduced the severity of the accident.

The remainder of the course (time permitting) is delivered using a structured approach based upon a tried and tested syllabus. The syllabus I use is designed to instil confidence in drivers of all levels of ability on all types of roads.

The technical aspects of driving are covered by defining objectives and explaining what is required to meet them. Demonstrations are then carried out either on paper with models or driving the car if required. The client is then ready to proceed to the driving element of the course.

The Practical Driving Element

Upon successfully completing the technical aspects, practical experience is initiated. Short refreshment breaks are taken throughout the day and food and drinks are provided by Nervous Driver.

Our course includes the use of a dual-controlled 1.9 litre tdi car. Due to the driver rehabilitation aspect of our business, we consider that the dual controlled car is an important safety factor. For the foreseeable future, I will carry out the training personally.

Accommodation is made for more competent drivers who wish to use their own vehicle. There is no test at the end of the course but simply an assessment process where the client assesses their own level of improvement with my guidance.
